Experience Dear Team,

I have been looking into relocating to the US (specifically Florida state) to work and live as a nurse or PT, and I came across your company. My situation is that I am not a nurse or PT yet and my profession is pretty different from nursing but I'm having a change of heart as I do some research on how to move to the US permanently. I possess a BSc in Psychology and I am undertaking a Masters programme in Health Psychology, both in the UK. As of now, I have 2 years clinical experience in the NHS as Healthcare Assistant (may be equivalent to CNA in the US). Before the pandemic I set out goals to go all the way to PhD and become a psychologist in the UK, but after lots of research I can't seem to find a way to use this in the US. I know nurses and PT's have previously been sponsored to the US so I am looking into changing my career.

My questions for you are as follows:
If I get my nurse registration or PT registration now via a Masters pre-registration programme in the UK (these courses typically last 2 years and I will then be granted RN title), can I apply to the US immediately after that as a newly qualified nurse or PT as well as my current hospital experience? Would they accept me without the 3 year BS route?

Do pediatric nurses and midwives have a chance? (I would consider doing these if I choose nursing) as much of my current experience is in this area.

Are there any other Healthcare Professions in short demand in the Florida area (preferably Tampa, although flexible) so that I can focus on this area for studying?

I appreciate any advice or guidance that you can provide so that we could both have a beneficial outcome for each other.

Kindest regards,
Heidi Le
